A COURSE OF ONE'S OWN
A COURSE OF ONE’S OWN is intended for learners who already have a topic, author or subject in mind, but would like some help studying the material in a way that is relevant to their own interests and goals. The topics can be just about anything within or beyond traditional Humanities, Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. For example, you might be interested in learning more about particular authors or thinkers whose work we can read and study together. You might want to study ‘Technology and Culture’, ‘Existentialism’, ‘Postmodernism’, Political Science, History of Science, Poetry, Literature, Critical Theory, and so on. The range of topics we can cover is quite extensive, and once we have established a topic or area that you want to focus on, then we will work together on ‘A Course of One’s Own’ based on what you are most interested in, your schedule and your goals. (A ‘Personalized ESL’ component may be added to this Option.)
